How do I get around a DCOM settings problem?
Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) is a proprietary Microsoft technology for communication among software components distributed across networked computers. All OPC communication is based on Microsoft ActiveX COM and DCOM, thus you must open your DCOM permissions to allow this. Whenever OPC is used between two computers, or different users on the same computer, DCOM needs to be configured.
In addition to setting your DCOM permissions for your OPC programs, please ensure you do so for the application OPCEnum. Please note, you must stop and restart any OPC server/client for DCOM changes to take affect.
