How fast is OPC?
The classic OPC specifications are based on the binary COM/DCOM protocol, which is designed for fast data transfer. OPC can transfer tens of thousands of values per second. Some OPC Servers are capable of handling over 100,000 values per second. The OPC specifications do not specify performance metrics for OPC clients or servers. Any software imposed performance issues are due to how the OPC vendor designed the product.
