Wanted to draw some attention to the latest e-mail about the upcoming European IOP event.   As part of laying the ground work for OPC UA compliance, the OPC Foundation is upping the bar on the existing OPC products, and what is considered compliant.

New Logo, New Tools, New Rules.

The OPC Foundation is hosting an OPC Interoperability Workshop in Nuremberg, Germany. This workshop is being held the week of November 20, 2006.

The significance of your company participation in this important interoperability event should not be underestimated.  Vendors participating and passing the OPC client or OPC server interoperability will be granted use of the new OPC compliance logo, and be published in a press release and article as successfully validated secure reliable interoperability.   The  suite of tools that is being provided in advance of the 3rd party OPC compliance lab shall be available only to participants of the interoperability workshop, and is a significant benefit to attending this event.

All OPC Foundation members are validation of OPC  Data Access (V1, V2 and V3) interoperability, XML-DA, Alarms and Events and Historical Data Access.

The purpose of this workshop is to make sure that our OPC products work together, and exceed the end-users expectation for secure reliable interoperability. We want to validate interoperability for all required interfaces and functions, as well as validate interoperability for any optional interfaces where practical. We will document interoperability issues that occur for purposes of adding clarity to the OPC specifications. You should plan on helping to debug issues that occur, and be prepared to modify your software components if required. We will be testing primarily for successful operation between clients and servers but will test for failure as time permits. Please plan on attending all days of the workshop if possible. OPC-UA tests may be possible but will not be monitored or recorded.
